The Hunger Games are a wonderful trilogy about a sixteen year old girl named Katniss Everdeen. In the future United States, now called Panem, she lives in one of the twelve districts set across Panem called District 12. In the Capitol, the head city, Panem’s president runs the country. The Capitol has a yearly event called the Hunger Games where a boy and a girl are picked from each of the twelve districts to go into an arena to fight to the death.
When Katniss’s sister, Prim, is picked to play the Games, Katniss volunteers to go for her young sister. Katniss is paired up with a boy named Peeta and they take a trip to the Capitol. For another two months after being picked, the two competitors are pampered and dressed up for multiple interviews. At the last interview, Peeta says something that will change the Games completely.
